Looks like some more rainy weather is headed our way this week and everyone is getting cabin fever. So what is better than taking the kids to an open gym time to run off some energy and try new things? Louisville has several places that over open gyms for children ages 1 and up. I can only attest to three of them right now, but have heard of a few others if anyone wants to give us the inside scoop on those.

1)      All About Kids
They have open swim time for kids 12 and under Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. They also have open gyms during this time as well. During the week they feature a preschool open gym from 12-1pm.  You can come early and play a smaller zone prior to the open gym. This zone has a few inflatables, slides, and a ball pit to name a few activities. You can bring your lunch or buy your lunch there prior top playing in the open gym as well. The gym portion has trampolines, ball pits, slides, a tree house, and lots of room to run around and get tired. The price varies from $4-8 depending if you are a member or bought a pass. Check out the website for more info.

2)      Kazooing
Kazooing offers a different type of open gym. They have rooms that are themed. For example one big room holds all the inflateables to jump, slide, and climb. Another room, called the tot lot is geared towards younger kids and has cars to ride, puppets, things to stack among other things. Finally they have a room just to do an art project. Each open gym is $5 and currently occurs: Mondays 10 am – 12 pm, Wednesdays 10 am – 12 pm & 4 pm – 6 pm and  Thursdays 10 am – 12 pm.

3)      Kentucky Gymnastics Academy (KGA)
KGA is smaller than the previous places. It usually isn’t as crowded which is probably why ds seems to enjoy this one best. They have trampolines, balls, foam pit, and a few other things – just imagine what you’d see at a gymnastics center.  This too costs $5 for an hour of open gym. It is only open to ages 1-5. They have open gym every morning of the week. Check out their website for the times. It usually starts at 9:30 or 10am.  They also have an open gym for older kids on Thursday starting at 4:30.
