Review of Disney’s “The BFG”

photo bfg_zpsiuvtnuls.jpeg I had the opportunity to preview Disney’s The BFG. Having already seen the preview, honestly, I was thinking I would not enjoy the movie.  It looked just a little too…… “out there” for me. But, thanks to the absolutely endearing young actress playing Sophie (Ruby Barnhill), I just loved the movie.

Sophie is a feisty orphan who is taken away by The Big Friendly giant and it turns out to be a wonderful friendship.  Their adventures bring you laughter and a little bit of fright.  There were a few times during the movie when there were roars of laughter (one time when there was a BIG roar of laughter) and it seemed adults and children alike really liked it. And, I was so happy to see one of my favorite Downton Abbey actresses make an appearance!

Another thing I enjoyed was just watching to admire the artistry in what the cinematographers created – the scale of everything was perfect and the story, though completely wild, was made believable by the movie as it drew you in.
