Best Buddies Kentucky Friendship Walk – April 20, Registration 9am Walk; Starts at 10am E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the leading event in the country supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Join 50,000 participants at 70+ Walks across the globe to support the Best Buddies programs in schools, workplaces, and communities. You’ll be making the world more welcoming to people with IDD — one friendship, one job, and one life-changing connection at a time.We will have free food, a DJ, inflatables, and a face painter! This is a family fun event for all ages and inclusion for everyone!
Shelbyville Dogwood Artisan Showcase! – April 20, 10 pm – 4 pm, Shelby County Fairgrounds 1513 Midland Trail Shelbyville, Ky 40065. We are so excited to announce the 3rd Annual Dogwood Artisan Showcase located at The Shelby County Fairgrounds. This celebration highlights the importance of the arts and education in the Shelby County community. Celebrate the art, boutiques and flavors of Kentucky. Net proceeds will benefit the Shelby County Education Foundation.
Earth Day Creek Sweep at The Parklands of Floyds Fork – April 20, 10:00am – 12:00pm, The Parklands of Floyds Fork. Help us celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up the waterways at the Parklands! Bring water, a snack, gloves, and trash pickers if you have them. We will provide trash bags and all other necessary supplies. Expect to meet Parklands Staff at one of the trailheads in the park near our creek and spend a couple of hours cleaning up the areas around it. Please sign up with the link below and check your email for the exact location to meet closer to the date of the clean-up. Also, note that this is a highly weather-dependent activity due to rapidly changing creek levels. Please be on the lookout for updates about the event when we get closer to the date.

The Spring StoryWalk® at The Parklands of Floyds Fork – April 26 – April 28 – 8:00am – 8:00pm, The Egg Lawn Signature Trail, Beckley Creek Park, The Parklands of Floyds Fork invites you to a StoryWalk®! Enjoy reading a children’s book while walking along The Egg Lawn Signature Trail. Follow the signs placed around The Egg Lawn to read the entire story. Along the way learn about nature and complete suggested activities on the back of the signs!

Connect the Dots Powered by the PNC Foundationv- How do people who are blind do math? – May 11, 10 A.M. – 3 P.M., Main Library – 301 York Street | Louisville, KY 40203. Embark on an adventure with Connect the Dots—an educational series making the history and innovation of blindness and low vision exciting for kids! Instructors who are blind will demonstrate how they do math and what tools empower them. Children will get hands-on with math tools that everyone can use!
The Dot Experience, an upcoming museum focusing on accessibility and blindness at the American Printing House for the Blind on Frankfort Ave.

KY Science Center MakerPlace Family Workshops – March 9th, March 23rd, March 30th, April 27th, May 18th, May 25th, June 1st, June 29th, 1 pm – 3 pm, KY Science Center. Tinker, hack, design, and build – the Maker movement empowers the next generation of inventors and MakerPlace gives them the tools to explore their creative ideas. MakerPlace blends together science, technology, engineering, art, and math in a space centered around creativity and endless possibilities. The basis of all scientific endeavors is the cycle of curiosity, tinkering, discovery, mistakes, and problem-solving. These skills are vital to our 21st-century workforce as we collaborate to solve real-world problems. Workshops are designed for ages 8 and older. $20 members/$30 non-member
Sonic Sensation: Visiting Mini Exhibit Sponsored by ENT Care Centers – February 29- Now through May 21st, 9:30am-5pm, Kentucky Science Center. Sonic Sensation is a 1,500+ square feet hands-on interactive museum exhibition that will introduce children and their families to the science of sound and hearing. Through the use of open-ended exhibits, visitors will better understand the physical and mathematical principles governing sound and gain a better understanding on how we interpret sounds. The exhibition will serve to inspire and educate visitors through their interaction with the exhibits and each other.
Louisville Free Public Library has story time events all around the city. You could go to different ones each week. Sometimes they have crafts and other activities to go along with the story time. It’s one of the best free family fun activities in the city!
Speed Art Museum has drop in family programs on Sundays. Sunday admission is free. The family tour is every Sunday at 2pm and recommended for families with kids ages 5-10 years old.
Early childhood programming (ages 0-5) is back at Speed Art Museum. Baby Playdate is 1st Wednesday of each month, 10 AM – 12 PM. Toddler Takeover is 1st Wednesday of each month, 10 AM – 12 PM. Each month we baby-ify a gallery with floor mats, board books, toys, and soft music. Babies (and their adults) engage with the artworks and each other at their own speed. All the programming is included in your ticket to the Museum for that day. Check their website for upcoming dates and themes.
All About Kids has open gym and swim at both their Oldham and Louisville locations. Times and days of the week vary based on location or activity. You can get a punch card if you plan to go often and want to save some money.

SIGS in New Albany has several open gym style options that recur. From tot-spot to bounce time. You can go once or get a pass that will basically get you one free visit when you purchase more visits all at once.
Kentuckiana Parkour in Clarksville, IN has parents night out every Saturday night and you do not have to be a member to send your child. It’s for children ages 5 and up from 6-8pm. Kids can get active in the ninja and parkour courses. $20
Defy has Kid Jump every Monday- Friday from the time they open until noon. It is for kids ages 6 and under and their adult. It is $15 and parents jump free. You select a 90 minute jump spot. Those kiddos will be tired for their naps and you got your exercise in for the day!
Kids can make bath bombs for free at Buff City Soaps. Pick a location near you and just pop in during normal business hours, you don’t need to sign up. Click here to read more about it.
Drop in and paint at Whet Your Palette. Leave the mess at home and let your kids get creative. The best deal is Tuesdays, all day canvases are half off.
Saturday Farm Animal Feeding – Blackacre State Nature Preserve And Historic Homestead. The volunteer animal feeders discuss feeding and caring for farm animals, will take place May through September on Saturdays at 9:00am. Visitors are advised to wear appropriate shoes or bring spare shoes for the ride home, as we may get dirty, especially if it has been raining recently. Feed will be provided, but Visitors are always welcome to bring their own treats to feed the animals. Apples, carrots, and bread are farm animal favorites. Meet in the barn for this fun opportunity!
Wednesday Wonders at The Parklands of Floyds Fork -Every Wednesday from Feb. 8 – Dec. 20, 10:30am-11:30am, Ben Stout House, Turkey Run Park.
Wednesday Wonders are interactive programs designed to spark the curiosity of young children. This session is for elementary aged (recommended ages 5-9) learners. Offering a different natural history wonder each week, we will cultivate critical thinking, scientific literacy, and stewardship of our natural surroundings. This hour long program emphasizes learning through exploration and discovery outdoors combined with science experiments, activities, play, and art. Come prepared for the weather as we go outside for hikes, creekwalks, and activities during all seasons. For a full list of topics go to our website.
