First, I want to wish my website a HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY! LFF has been writing about fun events and things to do in the Louisville area for exactly 1 year and we have enjoyed providing this service! We hope you have been able to use our site to make wonderful memories with your family!

On to the article……

Ice Skating is a wonderful family activity, especially for this week before Christmas when school is out!

There are two locations for ice skating in the Louisville area.

Alpine Ice Arena is a family owned and run complex with a wide open schedule for free skating.  They are open for skating from 11am-2pm Monday through Friday.  On Saturdays, they are open suring the day from 1-5pm and on Sunday from 2-6pm with FREE lessons at 4pm on Sundays!  How about going on a “family date night” on a Friday or Saturday night?  They are open of Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm-midnight for skating and snacking!  Skating is $6 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6 and under. Skate rental is $3.  There are coupons on their website!  If you are a U of L fan, their hockey team uses this arena that is located on Gardiner Lane, just off Bardstown Road! Be sure to check out their special holiday skating hours.

Iceland Sports Complex is located on UPS drive in Anchorage near Hurstbourne Pkwy.  They are also open for public skating but have a more limited schedule.  They are open on Mondays and Fridays during the day from 11am-2pm and on the weekends during the day on Saturday from 11am-2pm and Sunday from 1-4pm.  You could also enjoy a family night out at Iceland on Fridays or Saturdays from 7-10pm.  Skating is $6 and skate rentals are $2 ($3 for hockey skates).  Iceland Sports Complex is open year-round, so you can even cool off in the summer by taking a spin on the rink!
