Review of Open Gym and Inflatables Birthday Parties at All About Kids By: Stephanie

Yesterday, my son and I attended a birthday party at All About Kids to celebrate one of his pre-school classmate’s 4th birthday.  If you are considering holding a birthday party there, this review should be helpful!

When we were invited, we got a large postcard as an invitation that was a waiver from All About Kids. It had the birthday child’s party information on it and space on the back for me to fill out information about my child to serve as a participation waiver.  We arrived at AAK and went to the front desk to exchange the waiver for wrist bands.  Parents of children 3 and under get a wristband as well so that they can accompany their child onto the gym floor. Otherwise, if your child is 4 and up, you watch the party from the balcony area above.

We met the birthday girl and her friends and family in the party room on the second floor. This was on a Saturday and there were a couple of other parties going on at the same time but it did not seem crowded at all. It is far more crowded during open gym!  A young AAK employee was the party leader and got the kids lined up and escorted everyone to the gym.  The children sat and listed to instructions from the leader and allowed to play in the inflatable area for about 15 minutes.  After that time, the leader gathered the children and took them to the larger gym area.  During the time, another party was sharing the space but they had their own leader and they stayed on the other side of the gym.  The party leader led the children through different stations of the gym and equipment making sure that they all got a turn on the ropes or trapeze and kept the children in their designated area until it was time to rotate.

After about 1 hr, the party leader brought us all back to the party room and helped the parents of the birthday girl with the cake and cupcakes. There were chairs for the parents and a picnic style table for the kids.  The party leader helped to serve and clean up and when the birthday girl opened her gifts, the party leader wrote down a list for the parents to keep track of who gave what.  After opening gifts, the party leader handed out some AAK sports bottles with coupons inside and the birthday girl handed out some favors. All together, the party was an hour and a half.

The party was very smooth and swift.  The host parents were enjoying chatting with other parents and watching all of the kids and not fussing over anything. If you are looking for a party that runs easily and doesn’t require a huge time commitment but is so much fun for the kids, All About Kids is a great option and they have all of their party descriptions and fees listed on their website!
