July not only brings Independence Day, but also is the last full month before school starts up again! Already?! Let us help you make July 2011 the most memorable yet. And don’t forget to enter our Inaugural Summer Challenge!

Preview of fun events coming to the area in July:

Madison Regatta  – July 1-3 in Madison, In (about an hour’s drive from Louisville)
200MPH Hydroplane racing; vintage boats, air show, fireworks, musical entertainment, food.

Crescent Hill Old Fashioned 4th – July 3-4 Enjoy an art show and fireworks. Here’s our link from Stephanie’s review from last year.

FREE Shuttle Launch Party July 8 at Rauch Planetarium

Family Canoe Day at Tom Wallace Park July 9
Take a canoe out on the lake, and spend time on the shore learning about the incredible creatures that live below. This program is suitable for beginning paddlers (ages 5 and to adult.) Fee: Activities Free; $10.00 canoe rental

Campfire, Stories, and Smores at Blackacre Conservancy June 9
Volunteer Mark Myers will take our visitors on an evening hike at Blackacre, which he will round off with a campfire, stories and roast smores. Members free; guests $3/max.$5/family.

Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social – July 10, 2011 at Riverside Landing
Enjoy great ice cream, good music, and family fun on the banks of the Ohio River at our Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social. Admission is FREE, but some activities require the purchase of a ticket.

Cards Family Movie – Tangled – July 15 at Belknap Campus. Heidi Howe from Wee Rock will be part of the pre-movie entertainment!

Ice Cream Social – July 23 at Tom Wallace Park
Ehrler’s Ice Cream will be on hand to serve up their cold treats, while you and your family engage scavenger hunts, family relay races, balloon tosses and a variety of other games that will bring out the kid in you. Fee: Activities Free; Ice Cream $3.25 to $5.50

Anniversary Party – July 24 at Locust Grove – FREE.  Celebrate 50 years of public ownership of Locust Grove with food, drinks, and fun.

Rauch Planetarium Shows every Friday and Saturday to escape the summer heat

Louisville Zoo has special extended hours for June and July on Thursday-Saturday evenings with members getting free carousal rides and tram rides after 6pm on certain days.
