Things to do this weekend in and around Louisville November 11,12,13

Family Adventure Day
Grandmother Power at Ali Center

Half way to Thanksgiving and wondering what to do in Kentuckiana? Here are some of our favorite activities that will certainly lead to some family fun and won’t cost a ton! Next profession: Poet!

Downtown today starting at 11:11am, on W. Main between 4th and 9th street is the Veteran’s Day Parade. Who doesn’t love a parade and what a great way to honor our vets than to attend the parade and show your support. Use this family-friendly event to teach your kids about history and why we recognize these heroes and acknowledge what they have done for us with an event and consider a way that as a family, you can honor them in other ways throughout the year.

Choose a Festival of Trees and Lights event to attend. You can check out the Dickens Family Night tonight from 6-9pm and the entire family can go for $25. That is admission which includes special guest appearance by Santa, people in period clothing and fireworks. It’s a wonderful way to kick of the holiday season. Or, you can go this weekend from 10am-6pm and explore the tree and wreath display, do some crafts and hear some good music. The Festival of Trees and Lights this weekend is $5 for adults and $3 for children (crafts are a little bit extra, like $1 to make an ornament etc.)

How about some thrifty holiday shopping that’s for a great cause? St. Joseph’s Children’s Home is hosting a 3-day Holiday Thrifty Sale as a fundraiser. They will have a variety of items to help raise funds to support their endeavors.

On Sunday, there are 2 options that are both related to Louisville Family Fun!

At 1pm on Sunday, November 13th, head to Vint Northfield for a FREE music class from Heartland Music Together. Take your family to this wonderful locally-owned coffee shop for a warm beverage and make some music…..together!

Sunday at the Louisville Science Center, I am going to be moderating one of the FREE Baby Talk series of events. This session will be all about play time and the importance of mental and physical activity in your child’s development.

Have a wonderful, family-centered weekend!
