Keep your kids reading all summer long with these fun reading programs in and around Kentuckiana:

Barnes and Noble
This reading program is geared toward first through sixth graders, but we did it last year too and my kids were in pre-school. Your child reads 8 books and downloads a journal to write about the books. Then the child will be able to pick out a book from a list for free.

Half Price Books –FEED YOUR BRAIN® Summer Reading Program Read for at least 15 minutes each day, children or parent reading to child.  Log the time and turn in the log for a $5 HPB reward!

Chuck E Cheese
Print out the reading chart, fill it out, bring it to Chuck E Cheese to get 10 free tokens. (There are several other rewards charts here too to earn free tokens.)

Louisville Library
You can start All Star Readers summer reading program June 1 by visiting your local library to pick up a summer reading folder. You have until Aug. 11 to complete to win prizes such as a hat, passes to local attractions, food freebies and more!

Oldham County Library– summer reading program starts on May 30th.  Earn a chance to win $1000, everyone that finished gets a pass to the end of the summer pool party!  They also have special events with character appearances.

Bullitt County Summer Reading – They have special sessions at their branches at different dates and times!

Jeffersonville has a summer reading program for kids birth to age 18. Read, log progress and win stuff!

New Albany/Floyd County has a summer reading program.  Register and get a welcome packet.  Log reading and win rewards!

The Muhammad Ali Center also has a reading program that incorporates fitness and service!  A really nice well-rounded program.

Book It! From Pizza Hut has a summer reading sweepstakes and a really nice website for family reading ideas!

Old Spaghetti Factory reading rewards, your school or organization can sign up.

Scholastic Summer reading programs to log your minutes and try to win prizes

Pottery Barn Kids has a summer reading program,details are online for downloading their progress trackers and entering to win prizes!

  • This doesn't apply to everyone but our Cub Scouts troop (and I'm sure others) offer a Summer Reading Challenge. Read 10 books and turn in the form to earn a patch.
