Review of Raising Canes – Westport Road Louisville location
I was out running errands in the busy Springhurst area and I finally stopped in to try the new Raising Cane’s restaurant on Westport Rd (at the corner of Frey’s Hill Rd). There is always a line wrapped around for the drive through and the parking lot is packed – ever since it opened.
The restaurant is casual and smaller than I thought but has enough seating if it isn’t the height of dinner or lunch time. When we arrived at Raising Cane’s, I thought we might have to take it to go since there were no seats. As we ordered, a few booths opened up.
The menu is very simple. Literally – chicken fingers and fries. Some of the combos come with coleslaw and they all come with Texas Toast or there’s one option for a sandwich. You can also order bulk chicken fingers – catering style. All of the combos come with Cane’s Sauce. Basically, you just decide how hungry you are and get the size to fit your hunger. I wish there was a salad with chicken fingers on it! The kids meal ($4.79) come with 2 chicken fingers, fries, sauce, a drink and an activity. I ordered 2 kids means and a The Box combo with 4 chicken fingers ($7.19). It was around $17 for the kids and I, typically more than I pay when we eat at fast food since I can usually find a kids eat free deal or have a coupon. No such luck here. They have fresh-squeezed lemonade, the kids chose that and I got an unsweet tea.
The kids liked the chicken and fries. I ate half of my meal and saved the rest to take home. The sauce is apparently their thing and it was very good – creamy and peppery. I thought the chicken was really juicy. I wish they had a nice garden salad with some cut up chicken tenders thrown on top – that would be perfect!
