Things to do this weekend around Louisville – August 9,10,11 Parent’s Night Out focus!

Family Adventure Day
Grandmother Power at Ali Center

I’m sorry – I am going to take a week to focus on the parents and not the kids for a change. You may be looking for THE thing to do this weekend with kids but my kids are going to their grandparents for THREE WHOLE DAYS and although it will be quiet around the LouFamFun house, I am looking forward to exploring some new places with my husband – we are hitting the town!

If you don’t have childcare, go get some – network with your neighbors, co-workers, folks at church and find a dependable sitter!

Or, there are places around town that schedule Parent’s Night Out sessions, take advantage of these. The kids will have so much fun.  Here’s a sample of these places – read each for ages/prices/times:

  • KaZoing! (Keep tabs for future events)
  • Various YMCA branches offer this, check with your local branch and you don’t have to be a member to send your child! For example: Southwest , Oldham
  • My Gym-(this weekend!)
  • Louisville Gymnastics (Keep tabs for future events)
Then, pick out a place from this Eater Louisville list of 18 Essential Louisville Restaurants and really sit back, relax, read the whole menu without rushing and enjoy a wonderful meal – savoring every bite without worrying about your child’s behavior!
Check out ALL of these theatre options in Louisville – see what’s coming up and grab a ticket to a show. If not something for this weekend, pick a date and do it!
Head out after for some drinks if your kids are home in bed and you don’t have to worry about picking them up (responsible driving folks, I’m usually the designated driver!) – maybe in Nulu at Garage Bar and feel cool, like you used to or one of these other great bars.
Bar scene not your thing? Maybe something sweet will do the trick. Head to Sweet Surrender, Ghyslain, Ice cream at The Comfy Cow or The Chocolate Bar to name a few great spots for treats.
Or, how about this: a drive in movie at Georgetown Drive-In (Southern Indiana) and then kick it outside of Polly’s Freeze for ice cream– = great date!
So many idea, secure that babysitting or find a program and pick a date. Balance the family needs and find time for activities for just parents – whether it’s a date night  or night out with friends – everyone deserves fun!
