Parents Like Us: Candyce Clifft
Did you know that when I moved to Louisville a little over 5 years ago, I watched Louisville Life religiously to study the city? I am such a student of everything in my life and when we moved here, it was the best way to learn about what the city had to offer. I still watch it to help find out about those unique Louisville stories or realize – hey, I know that person! That’s how I “got to know” Candyce Clifft so when one of our writers was chatting with her at a networking event and Candyce said she wanted to do this feature – I was thrilled to know that A) She reads LouFamFun! and B) She’s a Parent….Like Us!
Tell us a little bit about your family and how long you have called the Louisville area your home:
My husband Kip and I have been married for 17 ½ years, and we’ve been in Louisville the entire time. I moved here to start my job at WDRB three months before our wedding. We have three children—Kendall, a brunette who’s 13; Nate, a redhead who’s nine; and Scarlett, a blonde who’s three.
With $20 or less, I would take my family to a local park (Floyd’s Fork) for a bike ride and picnic and some fun in the sprayground. Then, we’d finish the afternoon with a trip a local ice cream parlor.
My favorite December holiday tradition is attending my family Christmas party in Tennessee–the one time each year all my extended family gets together. My children most enjoy our advent calendar–a cardboard, tree-shaped box with drawers. I got it years ago in a gift basket (glad I didn’t toss it), and my children get so excited about seeing what’s in the drawer each day. It’s usually only a small piece of candy or a quarter. Too funny! Everyone has a family photo like this, right?
Families love pizza! Where do you go for a dinner out to enjoy a pizza together? Why do you love it?
My family doesn’t discriminate when it comes to pizza. However, our favorite place for a night out is Coals. The pizza is light, the toppings are unique, and it doesn’t hurt that the Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Kitchen is only steps away.
My hobby is napping, and I have world-class skills. Ok, when I’m not catching up on sleep, I love to ride my road bike. My favorite path takes me through Anchorage. I enjoy looking at the beautiful homes and yards in a place with little traffic.
