Plump Peacock Bakery & Cafe Review

Nestled among the cottage businesses in historic downtown Middletown, sits a delicious cafe that had previously escaped my notice. Plump Peacock Bakery and Cafe was founded by Chef Lizz Wingfield, who decided to take the leap from catering and farmer’s markets and open up a brick and mortar shop. The result is a charming cafe with cozy tables, a beautiful courtyard and tempting displays of one-of-a-kind baked goods.

We enjoyed unique brunch dishes in a fantastic atmosphere so go with our ladies’ brunch.  Stephanie even returned the following week for a special mommy/daughter lunch with her nine year old who thought it was really special to go to a “fancy” place for lunch.  Plump Peacock has a special feel but is a place that is not so upscale that you can’t pop in there for a weekday meal.

Plump Peacock is open for breakfast, brunch and lunch and offers quiches, pastries, waffles, hash browns, eggs (many different ways), sandwiches, soups, desserts, my favorite, Maple Bacon Muffins! Some other unique menu items include Bacon Marmalade Grilled Cheese, Peacock Cristo, Hash browns Bombastic, Benedictine and Bacon sandwiches and Honey Almond Croissants. According to the website, High Tea, Catering and Specialty Cakes menus are coming soon. There is even a special wine and cheese basket you can order (seasonally) to take to the park for a romantic picnic!

Plump Peacock is open Tuesday – Saturday 9am – 3pm and Sunday 9am -2pm and they’re closed on Mondays. You can stop in for a meal or grab a dessert or pastry from from the display cases. They have an active Facebook page that will make you hungry, so be sure to check it out!
