Valentine’s Day Fun and Events for Kids


Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Here are some sweet ideas for celebrating this holiday in Louisville with your kids!

Sweet Treats

Muth’s Candy is celebrating its 97th birthday and they want to share the love with you. Treat your kiddo to a hand crafted confection made by a fourth generation of Louisville candy makers!

Annie May’s Sweet Café is baking up delicious Valentine’s Day treats, including heart shaped doughnuts, lip and mustache cookies and much more! All of the treats are allergy-friendly – free of nuts, soy and gluten. They can accommodate a number of other allergies as well. Stock up early for Valentine’s Day parties and gifts. Graeter’s Ice Cream is selling customizable Ice Cream Heart Valentines in the days leading up to Valentine’s. On Valentine’s Day, Graeter’s will have BOGO Sundaes all day.

Cellar Door Chocolate is a small batch chocolate confectionary offering some fun holiday treats! What child wouldn’t adore a Love Bug Box filled with chocolate ladybugs, honey bees and a caterpillar?!

Heitzman Bakery and Deli has been serving Louisville since 1891. Stop in for heart-shaped cookies and cakes, cupcakes, tortes and more!

Plehn’s Bakery is another long-standing bakery in the Louisville area is. Stop in for a Valentine’s treat or pick up a dessert for home or classroom.


Sweet Events

Whet Your Palette has $10 drop-in painting. The whole family can get crafty and paint what they like! Monday – Saturday 10am – 10pm and Sunday 12 – 7pm.

Join STEAMPunks on 2/8 for a My Intent Valentine’s Maker Workshop! In this workshop 3rd – 12th graders will pick a word that is special to them or a loved one and create a handcrafted keepsake using a hammer, special stamps, and a ring of jewelry. Register online.

Head to Barnes and Noble on February 10th at 11am. Both Louisville locations will have a special Valentine-themed story time for kids featuring Click, Clack, Moo I Love You!

On 2/10 from 10am – 12pm, Michael’s Kids’ Club is offering Valentine Card making. Price ranges from $2 – $5 depending on age. Drop-in or preregister. Also from 1 – 3pm, Michael’s is offering MAKEbreak Valentine’s Gifts for all ages. Buy a glass, mug or tumbler and supplies will be provided for decorating.

On 2/10, Frazier History Museum is hosting Second Saturday: Celebrating Valentine’s Day from 11am – 3pm. Print your own Valentine’s Day card using 19th century printing press equipment. Learn about Valentine’s traditions, enjoy artifact touch stations and performances.

The Arctic Scoop is hosting Cupcake Decorating on 2/10 from 2 – 3pm. Make a sweet treat for your Valentine!

Hwang’s Martial Arts has a Parent Date Night event – drop off your kids on 2/10 for some fun from 6-10pm while you go out and have fun! It’s $20 at the door, $15 in advance and at all three of their locations.

Enjoy a day of shopping and Valentine’s deals at the NuLu Valentine’s Day Open House and take advantage of specials and sales from 10am – 6pm on February 10th.

Get fancied up and head to the Swamp Romp Puppet Prom for an unforgettable night of family fun! The event occurs February 10 from 6 – 11pm. This is the 15th annual fundraiser for Squallis Puppeteers.

For adults and kids 9 and up, Cooking at Millie’s is offering a Valentine’s Day Cookie Decorating workshop on 2/11. Register online for this sweet experience!

Visit Uptown Art for a kids’ painting class – Sweet Penguin in Pink – on February 11th. The class is for ages 5+.

Louisville Free Public Library has Valentine’s events at these locations and times:

  • Shawnee, 2/13 at 3:30pm: Books, cards, crafts and more! Grades K – 6.
  • Southwest, 2/13 at 6pm: Valentine’s origami & screening of Valentine’s Day (rated PG-13)

Visit the Glenmary Chick-Fil-A for a Cookie Decorating Kids’ Night, 2/13, 5 – 8pm.

Malibu Jacks is offering a sweet deal on February 14th! 2 go kart races, 2 rounds of mini golf and $20 in Malibu Bucks for only $29!

Planning a date night with your true love? Louisville Nature center is offering a Parents’ Night Out on 2/16 from 5 – 9pm. Kids age 6-12 will enjoy Valentine’s arts and crafts and nature games with their parents’ enjoy a night on the town.
