You might be eligible for P-EBT Kentucky, this supplemental benefit for households with children who have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals due to pandemic-related school closures

The P-EBT card is an Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Kentucky (P EBT) card with benefits equal in value to breakfasts and lunches a student did not receive during the days schools were closed

Even if your school provided some meals during this period, you can still be eligible for Kentucky Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer P-EBT Kentucky benefits.

Another round of P-EBT Kentucky funding has been approved. Click here to see the entire letter detailing the update. If you still have your card, if eligible, the funding will be added to that card so do not expect a new card. 

If you have SNAP, it will go on your SNAP card. If you do not have SNAP, it will go on the white P-EBT card. 

Call 888-979-9949 if you have lost your child’s card and need a new one. It may take a couple weeks to get a new card. 

Important information:

The State’s plan covers the months of October 2020 through June 2021.

The State and its school districts will identify children eligible for free or reduced price NSLP meals using the most current available data.

The state will begin to issue benefits for the months of October 2020 through February
2021 within 25 days of plan approval, which was February 24. 

Then, the state will issue benefits for March through June retroactively on a monthly basis by the
25th calendar day of the following month

New P-EBT Kentucky cards will be mailed out automatically (you do not have to do anything) for each child in October but some may not arrive until November. 

Who is eligible?

The main website for information on this program is through the Kentucky Department of Education. 

Children attend a public or private school that participates in the US Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program. Must be children who are certified to receive free or reduced-price meals and children who attend schools that offer free school meals to all students. Even if your school provided some meals during this period, a household is still eligible for Kentucky Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer assistance P EBT benefits.

Where is the money coming from and how much?

P-EBT benefits are 100% federally funded. The plan will provide each eligible student with up to $313.50 for the time period of March through May to help with nutritional support for children since school was closed during the pandemic.

What do you need?

Your district needs to give you your student’s Statewide Student Identification Number (SSID), it is required for the P-EBT application. 

If your household already receives SNAP benefits or other CHFS Direct Certification Income Eligible Program benefits, you will not follow the opt-in process because you should already be included in the P-EBT program.
