October events in Louisville are still happening! There are many free events around town,. We have selected some for you that we think are a great variety of events so that you can make sure you have a fantastic October.

October events in Louisville will look different in 2020 but you can still have tons of family fun. We have included events as well as other ideas for family fun.

There are events for kids of all ages to enjoy, even teens. Get out your calendars and get planning for October events in Louisville and pick a new spot around town to explore or event to check out.

2020 has been a challenge but we have managed to collect so many ideas on our website so your family can enjoy October family fun. We have seen on social media that families are trying new things this year. We love it! 


Wednesdays – Sundays: Visit Waterfront Botanical Gardens for free. See website for hours and special announcements about days they close for private events. 

Everyday: Josephine Sculpture Park is free. It is in Frankfort and makes for a wonderful day!

Wednesdays – Sundays: Blue’s Light Show is putting on a Halloween light show display for everyone. October events in Louisville like this are perfect for 2020! They have done wonderful light shows for Christmas and to lift spirits during the pandemic and now they are going to add Halloween! Wednesdays 7:30pm-9:30pm. Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 7:30pm-10:30pm. The last week of October starting the 26th runs everyday from 7pm-10pm until November 1st. Make sure to tune your radio to 91.3FM to hear the music.

Fridays and Saturdays in October: Hay Rides at Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass. Fall market, giveaways, entertainment, special guests (PRINCESSES 9/25 & 9/26, WIZARDS 10/2 & 10/3, MASKED SUPERHERO KIDS 10/9 & 10/10, CLASSIC SUPERHEROS 10/16 & 10/17, TURTLE NINJAS 10/23 & 10/24, VILLAINS 10/30 & 10/31)

October 2: Free outdoor movie showing of “Trolls: World Tour” in Clarksville at dusk. 

October 3: Fall Festival in La Grange at The Meadow House from 12-3pm. 

October events in Louisville

Starting October 9: Louisville Film Society has free outdoor movies. Check this link for more dates. They do have a suggested donation so if you can give, consider their donation. Each movie starts at around 7pm and will be at Mellwood Arts Center. You must make reservations in advance. 

October 11: Take a Tunnel Tour with a naturalist at Clifty Falls. Starts at 2pm, 45 minute hike

October 11: Take in a concert at Middletown United Methodist Church starting at 3pm. Outdoors so plenty of room to spread out. A free concert is perfect for October events in Louisville with your family!

October 17: Rosewater Bookstore is hosting a fall festival from 10am – 6pm. Shop books, enjoy apple cider, crafts to-go for the kids, and more!

October 18: Bluegrass Bellas Boutique Harvest Festival at Nunnlea Historic Home from 2-5pm. Craft vendors, food trucks, giveaways and more. Please bring in non-perishable items (not required but appreciated).  

October events in Louisville

October 24: From 11am-3pm, It is Halloween in Brown Park 2020 style – which is not in Brown Park but a drive thru event at Mall St. Matthews. 

October 25: Car Free Cherokee – run, bike, walk the scenic loop car-free. 8am-2pm. Get active with your family!
