Spring has arrived and it’s Kentucky Derby Festival time! Louisville is teeming with things to do this time of year. Find your FREE April fun here!

Residents of the 12 surrounding counties can grab a FREE membership to the Frazier History Museum. Valid thru Oct. 31, 2021!
April 1 – 30: The 2021 Earth Day Challenge Run/Walk is an annual virtual challenge to see how many times we can collectively run/walk the distance of the equator during Earth Day month. Registration is free, or upgrade to receive some cool Earth Day swag!
Returning in for free events in April 2021: Shakespeare in the Parks Tour; times and locations vary.
Lowe’s is bringing back free fun for the family. Beginning April 1, customers can register on Lowes.com for free Garden-to-Go kits. Sign up will be on their website April 1. The first curbside event will be held on April 8 and then occur each Thursday through the rest of the month. These family-friendly activity kits can be reserved on Lowes.com starting one week before each event and kits include:
- April 8: Garden-to-Go kit sponsored by Miracle-Gro with exclusive recipes from professional cook and food stylist Amanda Frederickson.
- April 15: Lowe’s Mystery Garden Pinata with mystery seed packets.
- April 22: 500,000 tree saplings given out in honor of Earth Day.
- April 29: Lowe’s Butterfly Quest which helps families create a butterfly garden.
Thursday, April 1: Check out the Frazier History Museum for socially distanced Spring Break Story Time at 11am. Remember- the Frazier is offering FREE membership for families living in the 12 counties surround Louisville, so go online for your free membership before dropping in!
Friday, April 2: Kick off Autism Awareness Month with FEAT’s Light Up the Big 4 Bridge Blue for World Autism Awareness Day. Kona Ice and Red Top Dogs Food Truck will be available.
Thursday, April 8: Ages 13+, join a virtual maker session with Louisville Free Public Library. Craft & Chat: Spring Decorations. Registration required for class & supplies. Pick up at South Central Regional branch.
Friday, April 9: Enjoy a Marvel-themed family fun night with help from the Louisville Free Public Library. A Family Fun Night packet will be provided and there will be a virtual component on Facebook Live at 7pm.
Saturday, April 17: Thunder at Home, airshow, drone show and fireworks is part of our free events in April. For 2021, this will be a reimagined broadcast event, not an in-person gathering. Some residents will be able to see fireworks from home as they are being shot off from various undisclosed locations to prevent crowds. The show will be broadcast by WHAS11 online and on television.
Friday, April 23: Check out some awesome cars and motorcycles at the Castle Car and Bike Show at Valor Traditional Academy.
Saturday, April 24: Go to Westport Village for some dog-friendly family fun at Puppy Palooza. Marketplace with over 20 dog-friendly vendors, a k9 splash zone, live music, doggy activities, and much more!
Saturday, April 24: Visit HoneyBear Farms for a Campfire Cookout. Enjoy food, talk about bees and tour the bee yard. 6-9 pm.
Sunday, April 25: The Farmers Market at Norton Common opens for the season! The hours are 12-4 pm and it will be open every Sunday through 11/7. Norton Commons is a great neighborhood for walking and boasts multiple playgrounds and locally-owned businesses. Additional Farmers Markets around Louisville can be found here.
