Little Crooked Creek Safari is a locally owned and operated petting zoo. The best little petting zoo experience around! There is a diverse selection of animals that the whole family will love to see, it’s a wonderful day trip.
Little Crooked Creek Safari is such an exciting, up-close experience with all the animals. Just about a 45 to 1 hour drive from Louisville depending on where you live. You will go a couple exits past the Bluegrass shops on 64 and then take a nice country drive to Mount Eden.
Little Crooked Creek Safari is located behind the owners home so you park in the front yard and walk back to the big red barn to be greeted by a worker. You are provided a bucket of feed to carry around to feed the animals (except the kangaroos – they are for viewing only) and don’t worry about using up all the feed because it’s unlimited, just go ask for a refill!
Little Crooked Creek Safari is all outside so be sure to dress for the weather! You will be walking thru grass and gravel and up a hill. Since you will be up close and personal be sure to wear shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

This includes all of your feed for each animal.
Open weekends only
Saturdays 9:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Sundays from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Little Crooked Creek Safari is a petting zoo that provides a fun and entertaining way for families to spend time together and learn about the natural world. They provide a special hands-on experience with wildlife, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the animals. It is so much fun! My kids loved running around feeding and petting all the animals. The baby goats were our favorite.
When we go back, we hope to interact with the kangaroos. The owner said there’s the possibility of up-close encounters with the kangaroos to go inside of their area and feed them.
Visiting Little Crooked Creek Safari is a fun educational and recreational experience, but it can also be therapeutic. The act of petting and caring for animals can help children develop empathy and social skills, as well as reduce stress and anxiety in both kids and adults.
There is a bathroom and place to wash your hands in the big red barn.
How do you get to Little Crooked Creek Safari?
It’s about 15 miles on 53 from exit 35 off 64 east. An hour from downtown Louisville. Take 64 east and get off exit 35 onto 53 towards Shelbyville. Then keep right at the fork towards Mount Eden Rd. Take 52 south for 14 miles. You will need to make a SHARP left onto Crooked Creek Rd/ H Richardson Rd. Keep left and follow the narrow road for about a mile. The entrance will be on your left.
