It may be August but summer is still in full swing around Louisville. Check out the list below to find some great FREE August events to keep your family smiling.

Shakespeare in the Park – Central Park starting at 8pm, last night is August 11th 

August 1

Free Movie NightJoin Iroquois Amphitheater for their Free Summer Movie Series on August 1 with Puss and Boots: The Last Wish (PG) and Rocky (PG). Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for concessions and door prizes, the first movie starts at 7:00!

August 2

Jammin in Jeff – 6pm-11pm, The Riverstage, Lawn Opens at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm with Joslyn and The Sweet Compression, followed by The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band at 8:30 pm.

Touch A Truck & Movie Night – Come and explore a variety of trucks, construction vehicles, and emergency responder units. After the sun goes down, join them for their Movie in the Park event. Gateway Park, starting at 5pm.

KMAC Tiny Art Tales from 10:30am-11:15am

National Night Out – Various times and locations

August 9

Highview Friday Fest – 6pm, Local music, local food trucks, and community socializing every other Friday, throughout the Summer.

Free Movie Night – Join Iroquois Amphitheater for their Free Summer Movie Series on August 9 with How To Train Your Dragon: The Lost World (PG) and Crazy Rich Asians (PG-13). Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for concessions and door prizes, the first movie starts at 7:00!

Jammin in Jeff – 6pm-11pm, The Riverstage, Lawn Opens at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm with Kindred Valley, with Hot Brown Smackdown headlining at 8:30 pm

Downtown Drive-Ins – Despicable Me (PG), The amphitheater opens to the public one hour before sundown when the movies will start. Downtown Drive-Ins will include snacks and beer for purchase. 

August 9-10

170th Annual St. Joe’s Picnic For the Kids – St. Joseph Childern’s Home – Friday 5:00- 11pm and Saturday 12:00pm-12:00am

August 11

10th Birthday Party – Carmichael’s Kids, Stop by anytime between 10am-5pm to play games, spin a prize wheel with every purchase, and be entered to win a grand prize.

August 15

Free Movie NightJoin Iroquois Amphitheater for their Free Summer Movie Series on August 15 with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (G) and Grease (PG). Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for concessions and door prizes, the first movie starts at 7:00!

August 16

KMAC Tiny Art Tales from 10:30am-11:15am

Free Movie Night – Join Iroquois Amphitheater for their Free Summer Movie Series on August 16 with The Iron Giant (PG) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (PG). Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for concessions and door prizes, the first movie starts at 7:00!

Water Wars – 1pm-3pm at Silver Street Park in New Albany

August 24

Portland Park 100th Birthday – Noon-3pm, food trucks, entertainment, music, and more.

August 28

WFPK Waterfront Wednesday – Louisville’s favorite concert series returns on Wednesday, August 28 with Matthew Sweet, Friko, and Nise the Nymph! The free concerts take place on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville’s Waterfront Park. The Big Four Lawn is located next to the Big Four Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge. The shows open at 5 p.m., with music beginning promptly at 6 p.m.

August 29

Free Movie Night – Join Iroquois Amphitheater for their Free Summer Movie Series on August 29 with Kung FU Panda 4 (PG) and Enter The Dragon (R). Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for concessions and door prizes, the first movie starts at 7:00!
