Hidden Hollow Orchard right here in Louisville is also a good place to visit. Check their website for updates – they keep their website up to date. OPENING 8/17! If you have not been here, GO. When my kiddos were younger (as pictured above), they thought this place was a wonderland adventure. Back in the woods, animals, totally non-commercial, a scavenger hunt for the best apples.
This orchard is really rustic and when you drive in, you kind of feel like you are trespassing. But, you are not! Definitely bring bug spray. Have cash on hand and bringing your own bags is a good idea. We have been there and just picked and paid without anyone even there to receive the payment, it’s really laid back. They have some horses in the back, just walk further down the gravel path. Bring carrots and bananas (for the older horses). It’s just such a gem of a place.

Be sure to call them before you go to check on what they have that day for u-pick. It’s always changing! So, you can visit once and then go again a few weeks later and get different types of apples. They also have all of the apples available in their farm market. Remember, they now charge $3-4 per person to ride the wagon out to the u-pick area.
Gallrein Farms is just east in Shelby County and they have season fruit to pick. Folks like their market for plants and veggies as well. An excellent option for apple picking near Louisville, a great day out on the farm for kids.

Mulberry Orchard in Shelby County is a great place to visit with families! We just love the drive out there, we opt for going through La Grange for the scenic drive. Don’t pack lunch, they have a kitchen and delicious food available. I love the BBQ sandwich and apple slaw. My kids love their ice cream and other peach treats. They also have a farm play area (fee), animals and hayrides in the fall.
