Remember, when enjoying boat rentals near Louisville, and you are out on the water, follow all safety protocols for boating and being in different bodies of water! Wear life vests! Kayak Rentals & Canoe Rentals
Harrods Creek- Nachand Canoe & Kayak Rentals on River Rd. – They have 3 person canoes, single or double kayaks both with 4 or 8 hour rentals with no shuttle. Pets welcome.
The Parklands of Floyds Fork- Blue Moon at Pope Lick – They have 3 person canoes or 1 person kayaks with 4 or 8 hour rental options, 11+ yrs old can pilot their own. Book online for weekend, call for an appointment on weekdays.
Lake Shelby – Head over to Shelbyville, at this lake they rent canoes and paddle boats for $8 per hour!
Taylorsville Lake – 30 minutes from Louisville. Taylorsville Lake Marina offers kayaks and canoes for rent.
Deam Lake – Under an hour from Louisville in Indiana, you can rent kayaks by the beach. (Featured in their newsletter but not listed on their website)
Blue River, approximately 1hr away-
- Cave Country Canoes Milltown, IN- half/full/two day trips, pets welcome, they also have camping facilities there and at Marengo Cave which is nearby
- Old Mill Canoe Fredericksburg, IN- hourly/half/full/two day trips
Kentucky River, over an hour away but good for day trip! Canoe Kentucky in Frankfort, KY- Trips on Kentucky River and Elkhorn Creek, half/full day trips and variety of skill levels, 3 person canoe rentals only if third is 85 lbs or less and under 13 yrs old, tandem kayaks, paddleboards
Three Trees in Winchester, KY about 1.5 hours away – rent kayaks and paddle in and out for 2 hour, 4 hour, or full day trips.
Ohio River – Louisville Boat Rental has pontoon boats and smaller boats to rent for as few as two hours. Can’t get much closer for boat rentals near Louisville. Call 502-594-2075 for info and reservations.
Taylorsville Lake – Taylorsville Lake Marina offers boat rentals from fishing boats to pontoon boats with slides. You can fish and swim all day. Rentals are less expensive Monday – Thursday.
Patoka Lake – A little over an hour from Louisville in Indiana. The Patoka Lake Marina has a bunch of boat rental option – fishing boats, pontoon boats with slides, party pontoons and more.
Deam Lake – Under an hour from Louisville in Indiana, you can rent rowboats by the beach.
Herrington Lake – About 1.5 hours from Louisville in Harrodsburg, at Chimney Rock Marina you can rent pontoon boats for the day. Totally fun day trip!
SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards)

Taylorsville Lake and the Ohio River – Endless Summer Paddle – They offer stand up paddle boarding for adults and kids ages 10+. You can simply rent a board or you can sign up for a class or basic lesson.

Kentucky River, over an hour away but good for day trip! Canoe Kentucky in Frankfort, KY- Trips on Kentucky River and Elkhorn Creek, Stand up Paddleboards, even overnight options. They have a 6-person Stand Up Paddleboard available to rent for families, available on the KY River
