Throughout the Season: Halloween events in Louisville

The Hallouween Parade & Fest takes place in Louisville’s cultural and arts district of NuLu. This event shines light on the creations and performances of the fall season and the amazingly creative people that make it possible. Free, October 25th starting at 11am.

The American HorrorPlex: Walk through the rusted and ramshackle gates to enter the Louisville area’s award winning haunted attraction. Screams fill the air as you wait your turn to explore the haunted halls, wander through a maze of maniacs, and try to escape with your mind and soul intact. Open every Friday and Saturday night, from 8pm until 1am. Sep 12, 2025 – Nov 1st, 2025.Best for older teens

Halloween on Hillcrest is a legendary street for decorations in the Ville. If you are looking for a street to visit this Halloween, take a walk down Hillcrest to check out some of the most elaborate decorations you will find in any neighborhood in town. Most participating homeowners start decorating in early October and are fully decorated by the middle of the month. It is typically more crowded on the weekend than during the week. There are no set times, but it is best to come before 10pm to ensure the lights are still on in the yards. Parking is available on Hillcrest or any of the side streets.

Scareview Haunt – Join them for the Grand Opening of Scareview Haunt’s brand new haunted house on Friday, September 19th! Admission: $15 per person. Haunt will be open Fridays and Saturday, 6pm-12am with the not so scary hour starting at 5pm.

Baxter Avenue Morgue – September 26th – October 31st, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

Haunted Hotel – Fridays and Saturdays in September, Friday-Sundays in October and some Thursdays.

Danger Run – September 27th-October 30th.

The Spirits of LaGrange Ghost Tour every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from September 25th-October 31st. Discover the strange things that happen in La Grange, a historic city founded in 1827 that has a train that runs down Main Street. Watch for ghost sightings along this candlelit outdoor walk that takes you inside some of our oldest buildings and down the famous Alley Loop.

Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom – By day, fly through the crisp October air on world-class rides, savor tasty autumn treats and discover new fall fun around every corner. After dark, watch the park transform into a whimsical wonderland of larger-than-life glow with towering pumpkin sculptures, illuminating experiences and glowing orange gourds lighting the way for endless fall family fun, like trick-or-treating and carnival games. September 26th-October 26th, Fridays-Sundays.

The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is back to a walking tour in 2024 and opens at dusk. October 2- November 2 at Iroquois Park. Guests are treated to an organic art gallery of more than 5,000 artistically carved pumpkins in themed settings. This family-friendly event has become an annual tradition for thousands, who come back each year to experience a variety of themed vignettes, set to music. October 20th is Sensory Night (5:00pm). Join them for a special sensory-friendly an hour before the event opens to the public: designed for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to enjoy while it is still light outside. Teacher Tuesday is October 14th, Student Sunday is October 12th, and Military Monday is October 27th.


More Halloween events in Louisville

Louisville Boo at the Zoo: September 27th-October 30th, Thursday through Sunday nights. Boo at the Zoo is rain or shine, no refunds or exchanges. To help manage attendance, all tickets must be purchased in advance on their website. Your party price includes ALL Boo at the Zoo rides, attractions and parking! Enjoy a spin on the Spooktacular Carousel. Get up close to REAL creepy crawlies at the walk-through, free-crawling “not-so-itsy-bitsy” Spider House. Hear the tale of the legendary Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.

Tickets: Tickets are $13.75 for non-members (both adults and children) and $7.25 for members (both adults and children). Children 2 and under are free and do not require a ticket. Tickets include Boo at the Zoo admission, parking, Spooktacular Carousel, “not-so itsy bitsy” Spider House and the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow attraction. Meijer Anytime Tickets are $11.75 and are available starting September 21st. On October 29th they will offer Sensory Friendly Hours.  October 22nd is allergy friendly night.

Halloween guests can begin entering the Zoo at their selected times, starting at 5 p.m. The trick-or-treat route closes at 10 p.m.


Open September 25th & 26th and October 3rd-4th, 10th-11th, 17th-18th, and 24th-25th. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $18.- Literally, A Haunted House at Culbertson Mansion in New Albany. 
 
What’s buried comes back to life at Kentucky Shakespeare in a thrilling Louisville premiere by David Catlin, directed by Producing Artistic Director Matt Wallace. As young Mary Shelley weaves her spine-tingling gothic tale of Victor Frankenstein and his unholy experiment, the story takes over and reveals dark secrets in her own tragic life. 7:00PM Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2:00PM on Saturdays and Sundays. October 1-26, 2025
 
The Autumn Express at Kentucky Railway Museum. Celebrate Autumn with a scenic train excursion and fun Fall activities. Enjoy a petting zoo, bounce house, mini train ride and meet Choo Choo Charlie the engineer bear. The children can stroll through the pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin. September 27th.
 
Grim Trails – If you are looking for a scare! (Best for older children ages 12+). 8:00pm 12:00am, Fridays and Saturdays starting on September 19th-November 1st. Tickets available on site during open hours or online.

Gallrein Farms Fall Festival – Join them every Saturday & Sunday starting September 13th through October 31st for all your favorite fall activities! We will have hayrides, the corn maze, pumpkins, food trucks and more!
 
Little Monsters Baby Rave – September 28th, 2-6pm. The Baby Rave is back, this time with a creepy crawly twist! Monster face painting, costume party, spooky treats for everyone, and spookier cocktails for the adults! Come celebrate the holiday season with them at PORTAL + ARTPORTAL!
 
Fall Harvest Festival – Jeptha Creed, October 4th, 12pm-6pm, Live music, local vendors, corn maze, food trucks, and more. Tickets are $25, children 3 years of age and younger do not need a ticket.
 
Trunk or Treat at Sauerback Drive-in. October 18th and 25th with treating from 6:15-7:15pm and the movie starting at 7:45pm. This includes Trunk or Treating and a family friendly Halloween Movie!
 
The Haunted Hike – October 5th, Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve offers Halloween fun for the entire family! This kid-friendly event features a mile-long Fantasy Kiddie Trail with lots of trick and treat stations, a Harvest Hay Village, Inflatable Party Zone, self-tours of our comic Haunted House, jungle hayrides, treat stations, face painting and fun activities for the entire family. 3 – 7 pm.

Boo Bash – October 25th, 8am-1pm, East End Farmer’s Market. Trick or Treating at the Market, Kids Activities & Games, Not-So-Spooky Halloween Display, Local Foods, Artisan Crafts, Live Music, & More

Beechmont Pet Costume Parade – October 25th, 3-5pm. The Pet Costume Parade will kick off at 3 p.m. at the Beechmont Gazebo on Woodlawn Ave at Southern Pkwy and will return there for all to enjoy live music, prize giveaways, pet activities, and much more.

Fright Fair at NoCo – October 25th, 1:00-7:00pm, This FREE and Family Friendly Event will have over one 30 artisan booths, live music, kids zone, and grub. 

Middletown’s Annual Trick or Treat, October 25th, 10am-12pm. Free trick or treating for children 12 and under, bounce houses, music, a booth decorating contest, and more.

Hallowhinny – October 25, Celebrate Halloween with horses! Watch the annual Hallowhinny show, wear your costume, and trick-or-treat the park from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. All of this is included in your admission to the park!

Halloween MAINia in La Grange from 11am-3pm on October 25th. We will have booths with activities and the Candy Swap Shop for children who need to can swap out their candy for other treats.

Halloween Kids Cruise – Belle of Louisville, October 26th. This spooky (not scary!) family cruise departs at 1 P.M. and returns at 3 P.M. Halloween costumes and period apparel are encouraged for this Halloween cruise, but not required.    

Famiy Halloween Party at Mike Linnig’s Retaurant on October 25th, 11am-4pm.

Boo Dell at Yew Dell – October 26th, 12pm-4pm. Trail-o-Treats, plus activities with our Horticulture Team, live music, and other surprises for the whole family in a non-scary environment. Members are free, non-members have a fee. All tickets must be purchased in advance. 
 
Boo Fest 2025 – October 27th, 5:30-8:00pm, Big Four Station Park. Trick or treating, food trucks, games, and more.
 
Trunk or Treat – October 28th, 5:30-6:30pm, DeSales High School. Bring the kids and trunk or treat for some tasty sweets.

Check out The Boneyard KY  – It’s in the Camden Manor neighborhood of Crestwood (5305 Old Herring Place) and bigger and better than ever!As always it’s FREE and great for all ages. October 24th, 25th & 31st and November 1st. 7-10pm (Check their Facebook page for more details)

Homerun Halloween – October  3-6pm. Ghosts and goblins at Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory are ready to knock it out of the park once again with the 9th annual Home Run Halloween event. Kids receive free admission and adults are only $5.

Drive thru Trick or Treat at Farnsley-Moremen Landing on October from 5:30pm – 7:00pm.

Trick or Treat at the Ballpark, October, 5pm. Louisville Slugger Field, The festivities include Trick-or-Treating around the concourse, pumpkin decorating, a costume contest on-field & a screening of Hotel Transylvania to end the night!
