It is the time of year for haunted attractions in Kentucky and this haunted cave tour is very unique. You’re on a boat, in a cave, through a 100-year-old mine, and there are ZOMBIES.
Gorge Underground has changed this offering from 2021 to 2022. It seems they are now offering a spooky unguided kayak excursion instead of the haunted boat ride.
You load up in a custom boat and you know those cave tours are cold so now you are not just chilly but the haunted cave tour is chilling to the bone is a whole new way. They have everything decorated to enhance the fright level, there are zombies and characters to help you “enjoy” the ride, and creepy music.
You have to be 8+ in age to ride on this haunted cave tour and you know, know your kids to know if they will like this kind of haunted cave tour. The group maximum is 12 people so if you plan to go with other people, only 12 will go together in the same boat. The ride is 1 hour long. This place is located just under 2 hours from Louisville. You could make a weekend out of it or explore for the day. Here are some helpful tips for visiting Red River Gorge.
The haunted cave tours take place seven days a week in October and it’s less expensive on Sunday – Thursday. Book in advance for sure, since it’s at Red River Gorge and you don’t want to drive out there without a reservation. The boat ride is unique so the ticket fees are not inexpensive, you pay for the unique experience.
Friday & Saturday: $75 per person (adults or children)
Sunday – Thursday: $60 per person (adults or children)
Dress for 50 degree temperatures, layers are always good. Arrive 30 minutes before your haunted cave tour time to make sure you are all set with your gear. It’s dark, so they do give you a headlamp to wear. You don’t want to miss those zombies sneaking up on you. You will ride on a pontoon-style boat. Be ready at any turn, you never know what lurks in the shadows of the cave!
