Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom

A Magical Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom

Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom celebrates the season and Christmas with an enchanting holiday event, I knew it would be the perfect way for our family to make memories and kick-off the holiday season.  The event runs select days through January 3. There are daytime and evening hours so you can enjoy it whenever you want for the ages of the kids in your family.

Kentucky Kingdom’s Christmas celebration is not your typical winter wonderland, but it’s filled with charm and festive cheer. Exploring the four holiday immersive zones throughout the park will leave you feeling the holiday spirit.

The Lights, The Lights!

You can see the park’s lights as soon as you arrive. The park’s front Classic Christmas zone welcomes you to the winter wonderland. The entire park is transformed into a glowing, twinkling spectacle of holiday lights. The light displays include tons of lights shimmering across the park. We spent a good chunk of time simply wandering around, admiring the beauty and the festive decorations. I loved how the lights created a cozy, joyful atmosphere—perfect for family pictures! There are over 1.5 million lights and more than 300 Christmas trees and holiday decor.

There is a Christmas tree light show in Santa’s Village. It is set to music and provides a light show throughout the night hours.

Rides and Festive Fun

Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom blends the fun of an amusement park with the holiday experiences you want. There are plenty of holiday-themed rides, and for us, the classic carousel was a must-do. We had plenty of space to enjoy the rides without feeling rushed. We loved the Giant Wheel, which allowed us an aerial view of the beautifully lit-up park.

My teens were most excited about the 175-foot-long hill covered in real snow for snow tubing. Blizzard Bluff has 8 lanes for snow tubing. There is a smaller tubing hill for younger kids, too. The tubing is in Snow Zone. In Snow Zone, families can reserve an igloo for an additional fee, hang out by the fire pits, have a snowball fight and enjoy live music.

For the younger kiddos, there are several rides going at King Louie’s Candyland. This area offers plenty of seating and food and beverage options.

In Holly Jolly Junction, you can watch the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer® story with a 5-D theater experience, have fun on more rides and stop at cute photo spots.

Santa’s Village includes a light tunnel, the Christmas Tree show, entertainment, rides, dining and of course, Santa!

Delicious Holiday Treats

There are festive treats everywhere you look—hot cocoa stands, roasted nuts, gingerbread dusted pretzel bites, and a family favorite, the peppermint ice cream. The kids really enjoyed the s’mores kits at Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom that they could roast by a fire pit. It was such a simple pleasure, but something about making s’mores outdoors in the winter air made it feel extra special. It was a perfect moment to slow down and soak in the holiday magic. There is a Christmas Tasting Passport available for purchase to use during your visit.

Santa’s Workshop and Holiday Entertainment

One of the most important parts of Christmas is making sure my kids get to see Santa Claus. Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom has Santa’s House which is warm and inviting with plenty of photo ops and a chance for the kids to chat with Santa.

While we were in the park, we were treated to some live performances too. From Christmas carolers singing classic songs to fun holiday-themed shows, there was no shortage of entertainment.
