Where can I donate stuff?

Spring cleaning? Now, what to do with all of that stuff. Local charities want your donations.

Everyone always has a bunch of donations that need a new home and are looking to drop off donations. Let’s take a look at some places around Louisville that are accepting donations.

Are you looking to donate stuff or drop off donations? That’s much better than throwing it out, so thank you! Many donations spot have specific days and times during which they accept donations. Also, some require you to make an appointment. And, some have restrictions on what you can donate. Not every place wants household items or can handle furniture donation. Also, sometimes older electronics are not suitable for donation because they have to be properly recycled.

Donate stuff in Louisville

Catholic Charities  – Email donations@archlou.org for more information. They distribute your donations among their outreach programs to meet the most urgent needs. Items typically include food and household goods.

Maryhurst – Please see this link to explore what they need and how to drop off the items. They need everything from household items to toiletries to activities. They do not list clothing and your normal “purge your house” items but they do need donations. Check the list!

Jeffersontown Area Ministries – This organization provides a wide array of services to people in need and therefore, has many donation needs from community members. Check out their Facebook page to keep up with what they need and to connect about dropping off your donations. 

Louisville Habitat ReStore – ReStore is accepting donations. They have updated their website to reflect how to donate and what they accept. If you are wondering what they accept, they take furniture, appliances, home decor, and even cabinets.  Plus, you’re keeping household materials out of our city’s landfills.

St. Vincent de Paul – Click here for locations and more information about what they accept. They always need gently-used clothing, household items, and furniture are always needed.

JCPS Clothing Assistance Program – They are currently accepting donations of gently used items. To get in contact with them and get the address, visit this link. 

Dress for Success Louisville – This is a great place to donate professional clothing for women. They have a list of what they are looking for an pretty strict guidelines so they make sure you are donating what they can use. 

Hope Scarves – Did you clean out your closet and drawers and find a bunch of scarves you don’t use anymore? Donate them to Hope Scarves! You can even mail them with a pre-paid mailing label you print off their website – how easy is that?! Be sure to look at their website to make sure the scarves you have are the scarves they need. 

Twiced Blessed – Unwanted items are given a second chance to bless the lives of others through their Church-Based ministry supporting the community by providing affordable clothing, shoes, and household items to our community and 31 charity partners. Located at 6105 South Third Street. They have limited hours so make sure to go when they are able to accept your donations.

Shirley’s Deals – Your generosity helps them continue their mission to serve the community. They have several locations in the area.

Places to donated stuff beyond Louisville

The Mustard Seed Thrift on Mission – This is a non-profit thrift store in Southern Indiana. According to their Facebook page, proceeds go to fund counseling, education and support resources for victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Check their website to see a list of things they do not accept if you are looking to donate stuff. The best thing to donate there is gently used clothes. 

HighPoint Charitable Services – This organizations supports families around the La Grange area. They have a small, but powerful, organization and it’s evolving with the capacity and needs of their clients. 

Operation Care Inc. – Located is Shelbyville accepts all kinds of donated items. They put calls out on social media for specific needs.
