Review of Louisville Turners Circus

Last spring, my then five-year-old son and I went to see a Louisville Turners Circus show and we had a fabulous time together. I love taking him on mother/son dates to theater or drama type shows and plays because he really enjoys them.

Louisville Turners Circus is a gym and circus for all ages. They focus on health, physical education, cultural education, and recreation to develop the whole mind and soul, as well as entertain crowds of people!  Aerial and gymnastics classes for people of all ages and many abilities are offered, in addition to camps and performances.

The show my son and I attended was called Stagecoach Family Circus. It was full of trapeze artistry, fire breathing acts, tumbling and balancing gymnastics, stilt walkers, comedy, and much more. It was really neat because most of the actors and actresses in the show were young adults, teens and kids. They are part of the year-round circus that practices and rehearses for the big show once a year. Anyone can try out! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and my son was awestruck by the acts and daring stunts he saw. It was mesmerizing! During intermission, there were concessions and also “wild wild west” photo opps, which we really enjoyed. We were caught in jail and my son thought it was hysterical!

Louisville Turners Circus offers circus-related programming year-round; check their schedule here. The big circus show for 2018 is Bayou. The performances will take place Friday – Sunday, March 16th – 18th and 23rd – 25th. Tickets are on sale now. At the door, tickets are $17.50 for adults and $12.50 for children under 12. Purchasing tickets here in advance will save you $5 per ticket and ensure you get a seat!

You or your child (age 3+) can audition for a future circus performance! More information  is available here. Louisville Turners website, Facebook and Instagram pages are excellent ways of keeping up with shows, classes and other information.

Louisville Turners Circus is located at 3125 River Road. You can contact their office before 6pm at 812-734-6202.
