Iroquois Amphitheater offers outdoor Movies Under the Stars

 

While my family knew that the Iroquois Amphitheater was a great venue for plays, concerts, and festivals, we had never been to one of their summer Movies Under the Stars. Since we live within walking distance and knew they were playing ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi,’ I made sure to note the date so that we wouldn’t miss it.

Iroquois Amphitheater offers plenty of parking for this FREE event and it is also handicap assessable. They had greeters at the door that checked bags and let us know that seating was open and to sit wherever we wanted. We were also given free raffle tickets for prizes that were drawn before the movie started. We didn’t win, but some great prizes from LG&E, the Louisville Water Company, and Taste of South Louisville were given out!

Concessions were available for purchase and included items like ice cream, nachos, pretzels, and popcorn. Beer and wine was also available for adults.

We had great seats but wished we had brought some cushions to sit on because the seats started to get uncomfortable. Don’t forget bug spray as well since you are outside and the bugs are part of the show. A few times birds flew across the screen which my boys thought was pretty funny.

Iroquois Amphitheater had a large screen up on stage for easy viewing of the show and also offered a few TVs in the concession area in case you needed to walk back there for more concessions or needed a break for the kids. Concessions closed before the movie was over so make sure you get everything you want early on.

Movies start at 8:30pm and doors open at 7:30pm. Iroquois Amphitheater is located at 1080 Amphitheater Rd at Iroquois Park in the South end of Louisville.
