Purrfect Day Cat Cafe
Louisville’s first cat cafe is open! Purrfect Day Cat Cafe and the Kentucky Humane Society have partnered together to offer a unique setting for adoptable cats and kittens to mingle with visitors. The goal of the cat cafe is to help facilitate adoptions and donate money to the Kentucky Humane Society.
Even if you’re not looking to adopt a new feline family member, the cat cafe is a fun place to visit. Visitors are greeted with a red carpet as they enter the cafe and immediately are checked in for their reservation time. The cat room walls are all glass, so visitors can watch the action in the cafe area. The cafe offers Quills coffee, locally made baked goods, popcorn, light foods, wine, beer, soda and other beverages. The menu items all have fun cat pun names like “Kitty Litter” popcorn and “Tabby Scone.” We loved all of the fun details around the cat cafe from cement paw prints on the bar top, cat cake pops and wooden cat side tables.
The cat room has no shortage of cats and kittens running around, sleeping, playing and exploring. There are several places to sit comfortably and enjoy the animals. Choose a cozy papason chair, a soft rug on the floor or the window bench seat. Don’t worry, the cats will come to you, you won’t have to chase them. The room is a great atmosphere for the cats to socialize with other cats and visitors. It’s the perfect matchmaking setting for those wanting to find a forever friend or just wanting to enjoy the cat company. Eventually, the room will have a spiral staircase leading to a second floor area where the cats are free to roam.
A couple of employees remain in the cat room with you during your visit. They offer information on the cats and the adoption process, clean any areas that need attention and help everyone have an enjoyable experience. We felt like the room was clean, beautifully decorated, had several cat toys to use and interaction was encouraged. The room can hold 15-20 visitors comfortably.
Purrfect Day Cat Cafe can host private events, birthday parties and groups. There is an upstairs area with more seating, couches and a fostering center and nursery for the cats not quite ready to join the big group in the cat room.
At this time, reservations are open to children 6 and older (they must be accompanied by an adult) and the cafe is planning special events for younger children. The visits are 50 minutes and cost $10 per person during the week and $12 on the weekend. The cat cafe opens every day at 10am. Purrfect Day Cat Cafe is located in the Highlands at 1741 Bardstown Road. Reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. There’s no guarantee that space will be available in the cat room for walk-in visitors. You do not have to have a reservation to visit the cafe. Sit at the bar area or many stools facing the cat room while enjoying something from the cafe. We promise the cat show will be entertaining.
My children and I really enjoyed our time with the cats and treats from the cafe. The cat room was so peaceful and left us feeling refreshed. The cats had us admiring and laughing at them and filled with a sense of joy. We love the concept of finding adoptable cats loving homes, donating to the Kentucky Humane Society and gathering to enjoy local goods. Check out the Purrfect Day Cat Cafe in the Highlands where you can snuggle, play or relax with sweet friends.
