New Year’s Eve plans change a bit for a lot of people once they have kids. But still, families are looking for fun. Here are some ideas for New Year’s Eve family fun in Louisville. 

Celebrate the a new year, new beginnings, and hope for more positivity in 2026. There certainly is much to be grateful for but there’s also something to be said about flipping the calendar and setting goals for next year. 

Here are some ideas for your families to have fun together for NYE 2025 and New Year’s Day 2026.

Fun ideas for at home!

New Year’s Eve with kids can be fun! It is a great time to stay home and hang out with the family. If you want to hang out at home, maybe get cozy with pajamas and games, get some sparkling cider, watch a movie. Order some Graeter’s delivered and have an ice cream sundae party at home for New Year’s Eve! 

There are things to do with for New Year’s Eve with kids or if you need childcare for the kids. But, it is not the most popular family fun day with tons of things planned around town.


Family Fun together:

Dave & Buster’s has an early celebration of the New Year’s starting at 4pm. From thrilling arcade action to delicious bites and sparkling drinks, they’ve got everything you need to welcome 2026 in style…without staying up till midnight! 

Ken Bowl and Dixie Bowl will have a New Year’s Eve Party this year. The Family Party is from 5-8pm and The Late Night Party is from 9pm-1am. Reserve your lane now.

Going ice skating together is a fun activity for New Year’s eve with kids. Click here for locations.

Paristown has their outdoor ice skating rink open from 12:00pm-9:00pm on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

 

Or, go roller skating at Champs Rollerdome which will have a NYE Party from 2pm-6pm with the ball dropping at 6pm. They will also be open on New Year’s Day!

Louisville Silent Disco is throwing a Family Friendly NYE Silent Disco at Mile Wide from 3-6pm. They’ll have three channels of family-friendly music spanning from decades, hip-hop, and pop – with room for requests!

First Day Hike: E.P. Tom Sawyer Park, the First Day hike will begin at Sawyer Hayes Community located at 2201 Lakeland Rd at 1PM and will be followed by hot beverages inside the building. 

Main Event: They are hosting a family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration, designed for parents and kids who want a fun, earlier-in-the-day alternative to traditional late-night festivities. The “When the Clock Strikes FUN” celebration begins at 2 PM and includes games, entertainment, food, and a special giveaway where the first 200 registered guests will be entered for a chance to win Free Laser Tag for a Year!

Lights Under Louisville is open on New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day from 9:00am-10:00pm.

Malibu Jack’s will be open New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day!

Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom – open both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day from 3pm-9pm.

Noon Year’s Eve at Logan Street Market. It’s the ultimate family-friendly celebration for the little ones who can’t stay up until midnight. Fun starts at 11am, as they get ready for a noon countdown with a lively dance party til 1pm.

Kentucky Flea Market New Year’s Spectacular is happening this year! January 1st-4th. One of the nations finest Flea Markets featuring quality dealers from all over selling antiques, jewelry, clothes, bath & body, surplus and much more. Free admission.

Glow Worm Cafe & Play:  New Years Eve is December 31 from 10am-3:30pm at Glow Worm! Reservations required ahead of time. Call the cafe for day-of cancellations.

The Kentucky Science Center: Let’s make every second count so ring in the new year a little early with a celebration on New Year’s Eve that’s perfectly timed for families! Noon Year’s celebration activities run from 10AM–2PM, free with admission.

Derby Dinner Playhouse: If you missed your chance to get tickets to see ELF THE MUSICAL, they still have great seats available on New Year’s Eve! You get dinner, a show, dancing, and breakfast all in one stop! Celebration after the performance is for ages 18 and older!

Berrytown Community Center: Enjoy festive fun, games, and a special countdown to noon that’s perfect for kids and families! 11am-1pm

Louisville Free Public Library – Wanting to ring in the New Year without having to worry about staying up until midnight? Many library branches are giving you an opportunity to do just that! Celebrate with storytimes, dance parties, crafts and more! Check out their website for all the fun.
