Looking for free events this month? Let’s highlight some fun April! We know our readers like free family fun so here are some ideas for heading out with your kid without worrying about tickets!

Returning with free events in April 2026: Shakespeare in the Parks Tour; times and locations vary.

Friday, April 3: Caesars Foundation of Floyd County FamFest is one of the Kentucky Derby Festival’s 2026 Kick-off events! A FREE Family-friendly event celebrating the best parts of Festival: featuring inflatables, live music, elements of Derby Festival, face painting and more! Attendees will receive a custom FamFest event pin (while supplies last) that offers entry to Pin-admission events during the 2026 Derby Festival.

Saturday, April 4: Easter Egg Hunt, Robsion Park, 10am, The egg hunt will be sectioned off by age group and there will also be a separate allergy-friendly section. Free hot dogs and lemonade until supplies last.

Saturday, April 4: Block Party, this free event, returning with the support of Churchill Downs and Humana and the Derby Festival’s Derby Equity Community Initiative (DECI), will be held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center and will feature food trucks, a marketplace, live entertainment, and more. Noon-6pm

Monday, April 6-10: Spring Break at the Library is the place to be. Some of the activities include a glue table, a spring break story walk, crafternoon, and more! Check out their website for all the details!

Saturday, April 11: Baby Prom 2026 You’re invited to the cutest event of the summer – Baby Prom. Children ages 0-3 years old and their caregivers are welcome. They want to see babies dressed up in their finest duds, best glam, and favorite outfits. Southwest Regional Library, 10am-12pm.

Saturday, April 11: Spring Street Festival, 12-9:30pm, 246 Spring Street. Music, food, and family fun!

Friday, April 17: Earth Day Fest at the Parklands of Floyds Fork. Celebrate Earth Day from 5pm-9pm with live music, food, beer, trivia, community partner booths, vendors, and more!

Saturday & Sunday, April 25 & 26: Cherokee Triangle Art Fair, Artists and food vendor booths will be located on the streets surrounding Willow Park, in the Cherokee Triangle neighborhood (Cherokee Parkway between Willow Ave. and Cherokee Rd.).
