2026 Buy Local Fair – May 31, 12-6pm, Lynn Family Stadium – FREE (parking $10) – The Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA) will host the annual Buy Local Fair on Sunday, May 31st from 12:00pm-6:00pm at the Lynn Family Stadium Fan Zone. The event will include more than 100 booths from local retailers, organizations, and artists, as well as food and libations. Admission is free; stadium parking in the Purple Lot is $10 a carload with a portion supporting LIBA. Carpooling encouraged and bicycle parking is free. Louisville Free Public Library has story time events all around the city. You could go to different ones each week. Sometimes they have crafts and other activities to go along with the story time. It’s one of the best free family fun activities in the city!
Early childhood programming (ages 0-5) is back at Speed Art Museum. Baby Playdate is 1st Wednesday of each month, 10 AM – 12 PM. Toddler Takeover is 1st Wednesday of each month, 10 AM – 12 PM. Each month we baby-ify a gallery with floor mats, board books, toys, and soft music. Babies (and their adults) engage with the artworks and each other at their own speed. All the programming is included in your ticket to the Museum for that day. Check their website for upcoming dates and themes.
Tiny Art Tales – KMAC Museum, 10:30-11:15am, Join us Friday every month from 10:30-11:15 am for movement, music, and art making. It’s free.
SIGS in New Albany has several open gym style options that recur. From tot-spot to bounce time. You can go once or get a pass that will basically get you one free visit when you purchase more visits all at once.
ECO Kids Discovery Days at Berheim Forest are offered every first and third Saturday of the month (weather permitting) 1-4pm. E-C-O stands for Every Child Outside, which is the best way for children of all ages to connect with the natural world. $15 per car recommended.
Kentuckiana Parkour in Clarksville, IN has parents night out every Saturday night and you do not have to be a member to send your child. It’s for children ages 5 and up from 6-8pm. Kids can get active in the ninja and parkour courses. $20
Defy has Kid Jump every Monday- Friday from the time they open until noon. It is for kids ages 6 and under and their adult. It is $15 and parents jump free. You select a 90 minute jump spot. Those kiddos will be tired for their naps and you got your exercise in for the day!
Drop in and paint at Whet Your Palette. Leave the mess at home and let your kids get creative. The best deal is Tuesdays, all day canvases are half off.
Saturday Farm Animal Feeding – Blackacre State Nature Preserve And Historic Homestead. The volunteer animal feeders discuss feeding and caring for farm animals, will take place May through September on Saturdays at 9:00am. Visitors are advised to wear appropriate shoes or bring spare shoes for the ride home, as we may get dirty, especially if it has been raining recently. Feed will be provided, but Visitors are always welcome to bring their own treats to feed the animals. Apples, carrots, and bread are farm animal favorites. Meet in the barn for this fun opportunity!
There are some drop-in opportunities at The Little Loomhouse. Isn’t it so great things are opening up for family fun? Get creative with weaving and learn some unique history.

Wednesday Wonders are interactive programs designed to spark the curiosity of young children. This session is for elementary aged (recommended ages 5-9) learners. Offering a different natural history wonder each week, we will cultivate critical thinking, scientific literacy, and stewardship of our natural surroundings. This hour long program emphasizes learning through exploration and discovery outdoors combined with science experiments, activities, play, and art. Come prepared for the weather as we go outside for hikes, creekwalks, and activities during all seasons. For a full list of topics go to our website.
