Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with the Louisville Orchestra at Play America

It’s time to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with the Louisville Orchestra at Play America.

The Louisville Orchestra, under the dynamic direction of Teddy Abrams, is thrilled to bring back their fourth annual Independence Day concert, Play America, a spectacular free concert event celebrating the 250th Anniversary of America’s founding! This musical extravaganza, set to take place on July 2nd, 2026, at America Place at River Ridge, promises to be their biggest year yet with an evening of community, family fun, and musical excellence.
 
Festivities begin at 6:00 PM at their Family Field with activities for all ages, including face painting, balloon art, inflatable play areas, community performances, and an expanded lineup of local food trucks. At 8:30 PM, the Louisville Orchestra with take the stage for a lively concert featuring patriotic favorites, classical masterpieces, film music, and playful surprises.
The evening’s program includes “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Bernstein’s Candide Overture, selections from Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, and iconic music from Star Wars by John Williams. Audiences will also enjoy unexpected twists like a heavy metal-inspired version of Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King and the comedic 1712 Overture by PDQ Bach.
 
Play America is free and open to the public, though advance registration is encouraged. Guests should bring their own seating, and free parking will be available on-site. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase throughout the evening.
