Review of McNeely Lake Park By: Jeanette

PhotobucketMcNeely Lake Park has just about everything you could want in a park: lake for fishing or boating, ducks, trails, playground, horseback riding, geocaches, tennis, soccer, basketball, 3 playgrounds, picnic areas to name a few of the amenities. It is located off of Cooper Chapel Road off Preston Highway. It is one of the largest in the metro area.

PhotobucketMcNeely Lake Park North houses a Korean War Memorial and two playgrounds and lots of shaded eating areas. There is a nice gravel walking path along the lake and several ducks along the way. A side note is this park had more litter than I had seen at several of the other parks unfortunately.

PhotobucketA short drive to McNeely Lake South is where a playground in the shade is located with some more picnic areas, lots of soccer fields, a basketball court, and some trails. This would be a great spot for a picnic lunch with all the shade. I imagine this one is pretty business during soccer season though. This part of the park also seemed cleaner than the other one.

PhotobucketHorseback riding is available at the stables 7 days a week and an appointment is preferred. Additional information is found on the website.

This park is definitely one to check out during all the seasons as the leaves on the trees in the fall are gorgeous reflecting off the lake.
