Review Cabela’s in Louisville: World’s Foremost Outfitter
Last week, Cabela’s opened a brand new store in Kentucky to a huge crowd. My daughter and I made it over there this past weekend to check out what all the hoopla is about.
My oh my, is there hoopla. The new store is located in the Old Brownsboro Crossing near the Summit. I had to pull out of the parking lot and into a gravel area to park. The place is filled with anything and everything sporting goods related. We saw all kinds of sports equipment, clothing, fishing gear, and boats and boating supplies galore, to name a few.
My daughter enjoyed the huge fish tank that holds native Kentucky fish along with a guide right next to it to identify them; I thought this was a neat area located toward the back right in the center of the huge store. Right next to the fish tank was also a neat interactive display for kids to learn more about animals. A huge touch screen display was set up where kids can touch on an area of the country, learn about animals from that region, and hear the sounds that they make. It was pretty entertaining.
During the opening weekend, the store listed Family Fun on Saturday and Sunday. I checked in with an employee to find out if these family events will be going on every weekend. He said “yes they will be going on all the time.” To find out what is scheduled, up to two months ahead of time, click here and select Events and Activities. We ventured outside around the side of the store to visit with many different vendors including wood carving, Boy Scouts who were demonstrating rope tying, and an area where kids could try out their skills at archery. There were lots of different kinds of things going on in the Family Fun Zone. On the flier they also had fly fishing and geocaching demonstrations advertised. It sounds like there will be family-friendly activities every weekend at Cabela’s.
The store is located at 5100 Norton Healthcare Blvd; 502-365-9020. Store hours are Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm and Sunday 9am-7pm.
